12 Sep Building a sense of pride, purpose, and community through Special Olympics in the festival capital of Ireland
Galway, Ireland is renowned for its easy going charm and warm welcome. Visit Galway during festival time and you’ll understand the city’s reputation as a fun town. Looking deeper within its charm, we’ve discovered a beautiful story in progress, as volunteers work to create amazing opportunities for their special needs community through Special Olympics programs.
In this podcast, you will meet Mairead Daly, one of the Galway locals who balances a career while volunteering her free time to Special Olympics basketball.
A few months ago, Mairead received exciting news that she was selected as a volunteer to go to Berlin, Germany, the host city for The 2023 Special Olympic World Games. She was joined by a few of the local athletes as well, as the games were held there in June.
We hope you will watch and listen to this podcast interview, as Mairead shares her passion for serving others. She is grateful for the other volunteers who give their time and heart to the club and community as well. As with all things worthwhile, it takes a village.
The local Galway Special Olympics program continues to grow, as it provides an opportunity for those with intellectual disabilities to foster friendships and develop a sense of pride and purpose.
Being part of the Special Olympic World Games in Berlin was an incredible opportunity. I’m sure you find Mairead’s enthusiasm contagious as she shares stories from these beautiful experiences.
And KEVADVOTECH is proud and delighted to have Mairead as our first international guest on the show!
